Halstead Precision
A first-pass quoting assistant for a Sheffield precision manufacturer, drafting estimates from comparable historical jobs for an engineer to review.
AI Strategy & Development →The challenge
Every enquiry needed a quoting engineer to read the customer's drawings, work out the closest job Halstead had run before, and build an estimate from it. The queue regularly ran a week deep, and the sales team could name deals lost purely to a competitor quoting faster.
Our approach
- 01
Built an assistant that matches an incoming enquiry against Halstead's own completed job history and drafts a first-pass estimate with the comparable jobs it drew from listed alongside
- 02
Kept the assistant strictly at draft stage: it produces a starting estimate and its reasoning, and an engineer adjusts and approves before anything reaches a customer
- 03
Flagged enquiries with no close historical comparable for a full manual quote instead of forcing a low-confidence estimate, since a confidently wrong price is worse than a slower one
